IPL vs Super-Sonic-101

Description

The sun beat down harshly against the trainers and their battling Pokemon. It had not started out so uncomfortably hot, but Dixie's Sunny Day had turned the once breezy field into a sauna. The sun powered her up as she charged the razor-sharp leaf on her back for a Leaf Blade attack. However, the thick-furred Luxray in front of her was not to be trifled with. Ray's agile frame leapt through the grass despite the heat and aimed for the tiny eeveelution with a crunch attack.

Dixie snarled as she backflipped out of the way. Her blade now glowing with fervor, she was ready to make this guy kiss her paws, no matter how tough he looked.

:iconpokemon-league: battle against :iconsuper-sonic-101:. :D

Yup. My first battle for the IPL and against my dear friend Kassi, no less! The battle is my Leafeon, Dixie, against her Luxray, Ray.

If the story didn't make things clear, Dixie's getting ready to attack with her Leaf Blade after making the sun shine brighter while Ray gracefully recovers from a missed crunch attack.

Good thing Dixie's fast.

Dixie's mine.

The outline addict... has... no... outlines!!! *Gasp!* ... ya' know, it doesn't look half bad. :D

The art itself is quite nice on the whole. No denying that. The edges of the characters sometimes look like they're shaky, and that's apparent on your Leafeon's, Dixie's, tail, just to name one part. Than again, that could be just because of the rough battle she's been having. One other thing I noticed is that Ray's head, though fine at first glance, seems to be a bit too perfect. What do I mean? Well, right now I assume that Ray is turning his head really fast because he's recovering from an attack and facing Dixie as quick as possible. One thing that should be happening to his head, specifically his pointy black fur that shoots in five or six directions, is that it should give more of a swinging or "whooshing" feel. Unless I'm wrong, and I could be, his hair is too tall. It's not that it's not the right amount of hair, but it doesn't give much of a head-swinging feel from his left to his right. In contrast, the lighting makes it seem as if he's turning his head from his right to his left (which would mean that he faced to the right during a frontal attack, which I am supposing happened). Going back to the second critique, the shakiness can be seen in some other places, like Ray's legs. The light blue and orange play on his legs is great, but the edges seem to not give a more uniformed feel. In other words, the darkness of his fur is going into the pattern of colors. Then again, that could be your goal: to look not-uniform. Also... is that a firefly on the bottom of Ray's foot (next to the L in your signature)? That looks so cool! I'mma draw it! :D

Once again, it is a good overall drawing, and I cannot definitively say that I did not enjoy it. Good job, Wolf! :D I hope you have more fun in your Pokemon battles!
